I really enjoyed reading this, great article! I recently watched the Netflix re-release of Neon Genesis Evangelion, so I’ve thinking about the UI used in anime too, and it was great to come across your article and see more in depth examples and their applications. I really liked your Akira example and visualizing data. One of the UI that stood out to me in Evangelion was the landscape viewer (i think its in the header image in your article) that has the 3 levels. Its interesting how each level tilts and then pieces together. Although I can’t think of other UI’s at this time, I’d enjoy a sequel article.
